Every site in the network

Each site does one job. The Minnesota tools are built on state and federal records that cover Minnesota; the national sites explain federal consumer regulations or cover data for the whole country.

Who owns all this, and how it makes money

Every site listed above is built, owned, and paid for by Dan Swenson, a Minnesota attorney. There is no company behind them beyond Dan, no investors, and no content written by anyone else.

The network makes a modest amount of money in two disclosed ways: some retailer links are referral links that pay a small commission, and a few sites sell a printable PDF guide. Both are disclosed on the page where they happen, and a referral fee never changes the price you pay. Everything informational is free.

No business pays to appear on any of these sites, to rank, or to be described a certain way. If a site says a contractor is licensed or a charity filed its paperwork, that came from a public record, not a payment.
